The Potenza family has a long history in Denver. The family patriarch, Giacomo Potenza, immigrated to Denver from Italy in 1903. Giacomo’s son, John Potenza, was born in Denver in 1904. John Potenza married Rosemary Lazzaro in Denver in 1925. John and Rosemary’s son, Joseph Potenza, was born in Denver in 1926. Joseph Potenza married Carmella Pascucci in Denver in 1949. Joseph and Carmella’s son, John Potenza, was born in Denver in 1950. John Potenza married Nancy Casale in Denver in 1973. John and Nancy’s son, Giacomo Potenza, was born in Denver in 1974. The Potenza family has been involved in many businesses in Denver over the years. In the early 1900s, the family operated a grocery store in Denver’s Northside neighborhood. In the 1960s, the family-owned and operated Potenza Construction Company. The Potenza Construction Company built many of the homes in the Sunnyside neighborhood.
